Valentia's Story I first became interested in coding during high school when I took a basic computer science class. The idea of creating something from scratch using just a computer and my problem-solving skills fascinated me. My teacher, who was very passionate about technology, introduced us to the basics of programming, and I was immediately hooked.As I delved deeper, I realized that coding is not just about writing lines of code but about thinking logically and creatively to solve problems. This aspect of coding particularly appealed to me because I enjoy challenges and finding efficient solutions.My interest was further fueled by seeing how technology is transforming various industries and making a significant impact on people's lives. I wanted to be a part of this transformation and contribute to creating innovative solutions. Learning to code seemed like the perfect way to combine my interest in technology with my desire to make a positive difference in the world.This curiosity and passion for coding have stayed with me, and I am eager to formalize my skills through the Learnership with SheCodes. I believe that this program will provide me with the structured learning and community support I need to become proficient and eventually excel in the tech industry.

My primary motivation for learning how to code with SheCodes is to significantly enhance my job skills and open up new career opportunities in the tech industry. I am passionate about technology and eager to transition into a field where I can be both creative and analytical.Additionally, I believe that coding skills will provide me with the flexibility to work on diverse projects, including those that address real-world problems. This aligns perfectly with my long-term goal of contributing to innovative solutions that can make a positive impact on society.Furthermore, acquiring coding skills will enable me to secure a stable and well-paying job, which is crucial for providing a better life for my family. In my free time, I enjoy a variety of activities that keep me engaged and motivated. One of my main hobbies is reading, especially science fiction and tech-related books, which inspire me with ideas about the future and advancements in technology.I also love solving puzzles and playing strategy games, which help sharpen my problem-solving skills and strategic thinking—qualities that are very useful in coding.Additionally, I enjoy outdoor activities like hiking and cycling, which help me stay active and provide a great balance to my screen time. I find that spending time in nature helps clear my mind and boosts my creativity.

Valentia's coding training

Valentia has gained access to SheCodes Plus for at no cost. It’s a 4 month coding training that’ll take her from a beginner to a professional.

She'll learn popular technologies, from HTML, CSS, JavaScript and development tools. She'll also get to build her own online portfolio to showcase to potential employers!

3. Plus Coding Workshop (8 weeks)
4. Plus Add-on (2 weeks)
