Stacy's Story My interest in coding began when I realised that pursuing a career in Accounting or Finance was stable but did not spark a sense of fulfilment within me. As a curious person, I found myself increasingly drawn to the world of technology. This industry constantly evolves, bringing forth innovative solutions that make life easier and more connected. Also, the speed of technological advancements and endless possibilities this industry offers resonates deeply with my desire to make a meaningful impact on society. Growing up in Ghana, where daily hardships due to poor governance are a reality for many, I have always felt a strong calling to serve and contribute to the betterment of my country. I realised that by equipping myself with coding skills, I will actively create solutions that address real-world challenges. Furthermore, technology is not just about innovation; it's also about empowerment. Coding represents a powerful tool for building platforms, applications, and systems that can simplify lives, improve access to resources, and create opportunities for those who need them. Therefore, my desire to serve and my curiosity about the technology world drove me to explore coding. Also, I see it as a pathway to combine my passion for problem-solving with my commitment to social impact, and I am excited to delve deeper into this industry as a front-end developer and contribute meaningfully to my community and beyond.

🙋‍♀️ Stacy's Motivation

My motivation for learning how to code with SheCodes is deeply rooted in its mission to empower women across Africa by breaking barriers in the technology industry. This initiative is to teach tens of thousands of women in over 100 countries how to code for free. I look forward to being part of a community that values diversity and inclusion in technology. Moreover, I am fortunate to have a Software Engineer mentor at a leading firm. One of his pieces of advice resonates with me: the best thing I can do for myself is invest in myself. Therefore, I have made it a priority, and one way to do so is to learn a new skill: coding. Additionally, I have free time, so I decided to use it wisely by learning how to code. Furthermore, coding represents more than just a technical skill; it is a gateway to creativity, problem-solving, and innovation. By learning to code with Shecodes, I aim to enhance my career prospects and contribute to a more significant movement to empower women in tech. I am excited to take this step and confident it will equip me with the tools to build meaningful solutions and positively impact the world.

The Delac Foundation Mission

Women hold only 25% of coding jobs and earn 30% less than men. In many developing countries, over 65% of women lack bank accounts, making it difficult to invest in their education.

The Delac Foundation is changing that. We provide women in developing countries with free coding education, equipping them with the skills to build a better future. In partnership with SheCodes, we offer training in product development, design, and management, empowering women to thrive in the tech industry.
