Sarah's Story I first became interested in coding through curiosity rather than a clear plan. I noticed how much of everyday life depends on technology from the websites we use to the systems that keep businesses running and I started wondering how all of it actually works behind the scenes. Instead of just using technology, I wanted to understand it. My interest grew when I realised that coding is not only for “tech people” but for anyone willing to learn. I began seeing stories of ordinary people who taught themselves how to code and used those skills to change their careers and improve their lives. That made coding feel more accessible and less intimidating. At the same time, I was looking for ways to grow professionally and challenge myself. I wanted a skill that was future-focused, practical, and transferable across different industries. Coding stood out because it combines logic, creativity, and problem-solving things I enjoy but hadn’t fully explored before. What truly sparked my interest was the idea that coding allows you to create something from nothing and solve real problems. Even without prior experience, the possibility of learning a skill that empowers you and opens new doors is what made me want to take that first step into coding.

The Delac Foundation Mission

Women hold only 25% of coding jobs and earn 30% less than men. In many developing countries, over 65% of women lack bank accounts, making it difficult to invest in their education.

The Delac Foundation is changing that. We provide women in developing countries with free coding education, equipping them with the skills to build a better future. In partnership with SheCodes, we offer training in product development, design, and management, empowering women to thrive in the tech industry.
