Sabela's Story I became interested in coding a few years ago, but I think the seed was planted much earlier. In school, I was always curious about computers, but I didn’t really understand how they worked beyond basic tasks. Then in university, I was introduced to some programming through C++. It was tough, but I found it fascinating how a few lines of code could control a machine to do exactly what you wanted. That curiosity stayed with me. Later on, I started watching YouTube videos about technology, software development, and how apps are built. Seeing people create amazing things from scratch inspired me. I started thinking — if they can do it, why not me? I also saw how coding could provide career opportunities, especially for people in developing countries like mine. With just a laptop and internet connection, people were building careers and earning globally. That really motivated me to start learning more seriously. I want to gain the skills not just for a job, but to understand how technology works and maybe even create something impactful one day. That’s what pulled me into the world of coding.

🙋‍♀️ Sabela's Motivation

My motivation for learning to code with SheCodes comes from a deep desire to create better opportunities for myself, my family, and my future. I grew up knowing that technology was shaping the world, but I didn’t have much access to it early on. Over time, I realized that coding is one of the most valuable skills today because it opens doors to countless job opportunities, freelancing, and even starting your own projects or business. I want to be part of that world where I can create solutions, build useful tools, and even help others in my community. Learning with SheCodes specifically excites me because it’s designed for women like me who want to break into tech but don’t always know where to start. I’m looking for a structured, supportive environment where I can gain real skills and confidence. My ultimate goal is to become self-sufficient in tech, land remote jobs, and maybe even build projects that address challenges in my community, especially in education and access to information. I believe coding can change my life, and through SheCodes, I hope to finally turn that dream into a reality.

🤹‍♀️ Sabela's Hobbies

I enjoy doing a mix of things in my free time that help me relax, learn, and stay connected with others. I love reading, especially personal development books and inspiring stories. They help me stay motivated and keep growing mentally. I also spend a good amount of time on YouTube watching coding tutorials, TED talks, and educational content — sometimes I can get lost in it for hours without even realizing! Music is also a big part of my life. I love listening to different genres depending on my mood — sometimes it’s upbeat songs that get me dancing in my room, other times it’s calm, relaxing music when I need to unwind. Writing is another hobby of mine; I like journaling my thoughts or writing short reflections, especially when I feel overwhelmed or have new ideas. I also enjoy spending time with friends and family, having conversations, sharing meals, or just catching up on life. On weekends, I like going for walks or just sitting somewhere peaceful with a good book or playlist. These hobbies help me stay balanced while I focus on personal growth and learning new skills like coding.
