Rachel's Story From secondary school I was interested and passionate about everything that had to do with computers. However, I could not take Computer Science as a subject from form 3 onwards so I lost hope on becoming a tech guru like I had always envisioned. Someone then told me I could enroll as a Computer Science major despite my background because they teach everything from beginner's level. I was excited and that is how I became a Computer Science major.

🙋‍♀️ Rachel's Motivation

In my freshman year we had an accelerated academic year, this means that we had 3 semesters instead of 2. Because of this the concepts that were taught in for coding for beginners were a bit rushed, so I did not grasp it well. When a friend told me about SheCodes I was so excited because I knew I had found the right program for me to strengthen the foundation of my coding skills and get a better understanding of the things I missed last year.

🤹‍♀️ Rachel's Hobbies

I like watching movies and listening to music. I also love night walks and going to the beach to just sit, relax, enjoy the gentle breeze and listen to the waves.

The Delac Foundation Mission

Women hold only 25% of coding jobs and earn 30% less than men. In many developing countries, over 65% of women lack bank accounts, making it difficult to invest in their education.

The Delac Foundation is changing that. We provide women in developing countries with free coding education, equipping them with the skills to build a better future. In partnership with SheCodes, we offer training in product development, design, and management, empowering women to thrive in the tech industry.
