Prerna's Story I first became interested in coding after attending a few camps like Girls Who Code and Kode With Klossy. Those experiences introduced me to the world of tech and showed me that coding isn’t just for experts—it’s something I could actually learn and enjoy. I loved the creative side of it, especially when I realized I could build things that others could use. One moment that really pushed me was during a school project where we had to make a website. I wanted it to look and function a certain way, but I didn’t know how to code it. That frustration made me want to learn more. I also participated in the New York Academy of Sciences (NYAS) program. While we didn’t code there, we explored AI and its real-world impact. It gave me a bigger picture of how tech shapes the future—and made me want to be part of it.

🙋‍♀️ Prerna's Motivation

My motivation to learn coding with SheCodes comes from wanting to do more than just use technology—I want to understand it and create with it. I’ve always been curious about how apps and websites are made. One day, I was trying to customize a school project website, and I realized I had no idea how to make it look or work the way I wanted. That frustrated me, but it also inspired me. I want to learn to code so I can build things I’m proud of—whether it’s a personal blog, a small game, or even an app to help other students. I like how SheCodes makes coding fun and less scary, especially for girls like me who might not know where to start. It’s not just about learning a skill; it’s about gaining the confidence to turn my ideas into something real.

🤹‍♀️ Prerna's Hobbies

Outside of school, I enjoy a mix of creative, educational, and meaningful activities. I love watching tech videos, TED Talks, and content about AI or space—it keeps me curious and helps me learn beyond the classroom. One of my favorite things to do is help younger students with their studies. I guide them through schoolwork and even help them prepare for competitive exams. It’s fun to teach and see them grow in confidence. I’m also the founder of a non-profit organization called Viksit Youth, where we support underprivileged children by providing educational resources and mentorship. Organizing events, tutoring, and finding new ways to reach more kids has become something I’m truly passionate about. In my free time, I love rifle shooting—it helps me focus and stay disciplined. I also enjoy singing and playing badminton, which keep me active and help me unwind after a busy day.
