Navya's Story From booking train tickets to ordering medicines online or following a recipe, so many parts of our daily lives are made easier by software. At some point, I realised that behind every one of those tools was someone who wrote code. That idea stuck with me: if I could learn to code, I could actually help solve real problems around me. Living in India, I’ve seen how tech can make a big difference, especially in areas like healthcare and access to information. Something as simple as creating a system for digital health records could improve the lives of so many people, especially in places where paper-based systems still cause delays and confusion. I started learning coding out of curiosity, but the more I learned, the more I saw its potential, not just as a career, but as a way to contribute. It feels like a skill that lets you take a problem and turn it into a working solution. That’s what keeps me excited to keep learning and building.

🙋‍♀️ Navya's Motivation

Women still hold only a small percentage of leadership roles in tech. This gap is a daily reminder of how far we have to go. But I believe tech has the power to bridge it. Beyond solving problems, it can break inequalities, create opportunities, and build spaces where everyone belongs. I'm learning to code not just to build a career but to be part of something bigger—a community. A space where women support each other, where knowledge is shared, and where growth is collective. That’s what draws me to SheCodes. It’s more than a platform; it’s a movement that empowers women to not only break into tech but to lead in it. Inspired by the journeys of past SheCodes alumni and after speaking with women from my college who’ve been part of the program, I’m excited to join a space where collaboration and mentorship thrive. I want to build real-world solutions, from inclusive websites to tools that make daily life easier. I also want to grow alongside peers who share the same vision and help bridge the gap. SheCodes would support my learning while easing financial constraints, giving me the freedom to focus on building, creating, and helping other women rise with me.

🤹‍♀️ Navya's Hobbies

Bharatanatyam has been my lifelong passion, a cherished way to express myself and connect with my roots. I've actively contributed to my college's cultural society, performing and organising events. Also, I enjoy writing articles for our college newspaper, voicing thoughts on important issues, playing chess, reading novels and doing photography.
