Gisele Ramos

Gisele's Story My interest in coding began during the Technovation Girls competition, where I collaborated with two friends to develop Welo—an app designed to share quality cultural content and empower marginalized groups to share their stories. Despite working remotely from different Brazilian states and facing a tight one-month deadline, we successfully created a functional app that addressed misinformation and prejudice. Our efforts were rewarded with global recognition as quarterfinalists, marking a proud moment for our team. This experience was transformative for me. Initially, I was uncertain about my career path and leaned toward Design. However, working on Welo made me realize the immense potential of technology to drive positive change. The process of designing and contributing to the app sparked my passion for coding and innovation, showing me how I could blend creativity with technical problem-solving to create meaningful solutions. Through this challenge, I not only gained technical and collaborative skills but also found clarity in my aspirations. It inspired me to pursue Computer Engineering, a field where I can continue to harness technology as a tool for social impact and innovation. This journey ignited my love for coding and its power to make a difference.
