Charlotte's Story I have always had a passion for tech. During my secondary education, I was part of the ICT Club and this exposed me to computers. I got interested in Graphics Design and from there learnt about User Interface Design. I learnt UI Design on Youtube and sharpened my skills by designing interfaces and posting them on Instagram. From there, I wanted to be able to develop the interfaces that I designed and decided to learn HTML & CSS via free resources such as Youtube, Khan Academy. While at university, my school projects were focused on providing software solutions for the healthcare sector in Uganda. In my 3rd year, I collaborated with a team that designed and developed a solution for biomedical engineers that would reduce the use of paper work and most importantly reduce the breakdown of equipment in hospitals due to poor periodic maintenance through timely reminders using the Python framework, Django. I learnt more about coding then and decided to study more. Thought it has been mostly self taught, my journey to this very moment is evidence of my unyielding passion for tech and a strong dedication to continuous learning.

🙋‍♀️ Charlotte's Motivation

SheCodes creates an opportunity to bridge the gender gap and I believe it is the perfect springboard to propel me into a fulfilling career as a software engineer and make a positive impact on the world through technology. Together with a Bachelor's Degree in Biomedical Engineering, I intend on creating easy access to healthcare for the people in the rural areas of Uganda especially where I'm from, Karamoja. With a certificate from SheCodes, I stand a better chance at getting employed as a developer too.

🤹‍♀️ Charlotte's Hobbies

I love reading books for fun and I'm currently reading the Artist's Way. And also love learning new languages. I'm trying out Spanish at the moment and it's going on well.

The Delac Foundation Mission

Women hold only 25% of coding jobs and earn 30% less than men. In many developing countries, over 65% of women lack bank accounts, making it difficult to invest in their education.

The Delac Foundation is changing that. We provide women in developing countries with free coding education, equipping them with the skills to build a better future. In partnership with SheCodes, we offer training in product development, design, and management, empowering women to thrive in the tech industry.
