Bassma's Story I had a class in school called Informatique when I was around 17 years old. It was about learning how computers work, understanding the meaning of informatique, and getting familiar with computer languages, databases like Excel, and an introduction to coding. We covered basic different programming languages, functions, and loops. To be honest, I have mostly beginner’s knowledge, but I got really interested in coding. It's fascinating because you can do so much with it. I even tried coding a basic HTML webpage using VS Code. I also love staying updated on the latest tech news and learning from my friends who are developers.

🙋‍♀️ Bassma's Motivation

When I first saw a SheCodes ad on Instagram, I was SO inspired. I could hardly believe it. Learning more about SheCodes and their mission, I felt incredibly empowered. Coding classes for women to help bridge the gap in the IT world—I fell in love with that idea. It made me feel seen and heard. I have a lot of friends who are developers, and I can tell you one thing: all of them are male. One of them, a software developer, even confessed that he gets paid 4000 dh more than a female coworker for doing the same job with the same responsibilities. As you can imagine, that made me both sad and furious at the same time. The wage gap here in Morocco is larger and deeper....All I can say is, thank you SheCodes for bringing attention to such an important social issue. <3

🤹‍♀️ Bassma's Hobbies

I love pets, so in my free time, you'll find me walking the streets (no kidding) to find stray cats or dogs to feed and play with and take care of. I also enjoy art, painting, and sketching, and I like to visit museums often. I'm also obsessed with board games, especially chess. I've been playing it for a while and really enjoy it.

The Delac Foundation Mission

Women hold only 25% of coding jobs and earn 30% less than men. In many developing countries, over 65% of women lack bank accounts, making it difficult to invest in their education.

The Delac Foundation is changing that. We provide women in developing countries with free coding education, equipping them with the skills to build a better future. In partnership with SheCodes, we offer training in product development, design, and management, empowering women to thrive in the tech industry.
