Imroz Mae's Story Last year during quarantine, I kept seeing videos about programming and women in tech and it made me think that if they could do it maybe I could too, also one of my friends was interested in coding so that got me intrigued by what it's actually about.

🙋‍♀️ Imroz Mae's Motivation

Around May this year, I was blessed enough to be gifted by my friend a course on the introduction to coding in this very platform, SheCodes. Before that I've always wanted to tap into the world of tech, since I didn't grow up in a tech surrounded household, it intrigued me. I wondered if I could really be able to understand its complexities, so I gave the course a try. I didn't know what to expect at all, plus I had no prior knowledge about coding or programming, or even what languages computers understood. As I was taking the course, the creativity and details surrounding web development astonished me. It didn't take a long time for me to get fond of the art of coding. By the end of the session, I was so proud of the website that I made that I immediately shared it with my friends and family. I couldn't even believe my work, that I was able to do what I thought was impossible. The support system that SheCodes provided me, has helped me understand the problems that I encountered along the way. Not only that but it didn't make me feel belittled about being a woman interested in tech, despite it being a male-dominated profession. My sole motivation is aligned with the goals of SheCodes, which is to inspire more women, especially my fellow 18-year-olds, girls, or even those who are less fortunate like me to learn how to code and that they have a special place in tech. That no matter how old, or how impossible they think it is for them to make it, there's always the possibility of success. A safe and equal environment where their ideas and creativity can be utilized and shared to make a better future for everyone.

🤹‍♀️ Imroz Mae's Hobbies

I like to read books and write short stories whenever I feel inspired. I mostly have fun reading webtoons, listening to music, seeing different perspectives, through film or art of other people to ignite some inspiration in me. I also used to swim for competitions so it became one of my major hobbies growing up.
