Quynh's Story I work in a non-technical field (legal, to be precise). In our normal practice, we require very little to none technical innovation. However, I believe the application of technology will be of great assistance for legal professionals, legislators, even the judicial body. On that ground, I've become interested in various research on legal technology, applicable AI in law, algorithmic rules in jurisprudence, etc. and I want to start by understanding the science behind this crossing between law and technology. Since coding is a fundamental part of the technology, I want to get a good grasp of it.

🙋‍♀️ Quynh's Motivation

To beging with, I believe learning how to code, however skilled you are, is an absolutely vital knowledge in this day and age. From the simple task of working with Excel to designing a personal website, to making an app for personal use, a person who can code will be able to achieve much more in shorter time and on less resources. Getting to know the ropes behind coding will also help us develop a mindset that is better attuned to the new, ever-changing technology. That's why I've been looking up coding workshops where non-technical people with no basic knowldge like me can participate. That's when I come across a friend of mine who just finished a workshop with SheCodes. When I look it up, I find SheCodes' cause and my interests align. Similar to computer engineering, the legal profession, until recently, is a male-dominated field and women are more often than not held in less regards in term of skills and psychological fortitude than men. I want to take a step towards abridging this gap, whether in tech or in law, and SheCodes advocates exactly this. But to champion a cause, we must find compatriots. I believe the people who gather in SheCodes workshop programs share similar goals and mindsets, so I want to be a part of this cause.

🤹‍♀️ Quynh's Hobbies

I practice violin in my free time. Before the pandemic, I usually went to free gatherings of violin practitioners and non-professional musicians to practice with them.

The Delac Foundation Mission

Women hold only 25% of coding jobs and earn 30% less than men. In many developing countries, over 65% of women lack bank accounts, making it difficult to invest in their education.

The Delac Foundation is changing that. We provide women in developing countries with free coding education, equipping them with the skills to build a better future. In partnership with SheCodes, we offer training in product development, design, and management, empowering women to thrive in the tech industry.
