Pamela's Story Women in my age group (and some that I have close interpersonal-relations with) have always come forth to talk about coding and software engineering. The jargon interested me but I always saw coding as something so far away from me, something not within my means because I don't have the finances for it. It has always felt as though those deserving to learn coding had to have money but that didn't stop me from going to my local library and finding out what coding is. I even found out about languages, something one would think pertains to human communication whereas computers and devices can communicate with one another utilizing programming languages. That's when my innate interest met my ability to action out tasks met -- leading to me researching all about coding.

🙋‍♀️ Pamela's Motivation

I want to learn with SheCodes because I believe women, especially marginalized women with a lack of finances like myself, deserve more opportunities and recognition in the technology space. It is important for organizations like SheCodes to help women feel confident and safe in this male-dominated technology space despite not having the funds. Aside from financial stability being the first reason, I acquire my motivation for learning how to code due to an innate passion for technology. I can see how rapidly the world is changing attributed to technology. We can't escape technology and the core of most of the technological devices we use is coding.

🤹‍♀️ Pamela's Hobbies

I love reading, I love quenching my thirst to read and research. I could read anything from fiction to non-fiction. I also love writing. Something about tangibly transcribing words in a manner that you can understand (such as making notes) excites me. I even used to be a freelance writer however, the market became very saturated due to AI tools, and writing something authentically would take time, something that a business cannot waste. Therefore, I lost a stream of income to help sustain my family and struggled to get work thereafter following the rising popularity of said tools. Despite that slight little hiccup, I also like to cook and knit.
